Felipe Jimenez-Angeles: „The zeta-potential for a concentrated colloidal dispersion: The colloidal primitive model vs. the cell model”
Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo, Mexico
A concentrated colloidal dispersion is considered by applying an integral equations theory to the colloidal primitive model fluid. For comparison the Poisson-Boltzmann theory and the cell model for a concentrated colloidal dispersion, are also considered. Thus, the interfacial ζ-potential and electric double layer for colloidal particle are studied. Integral equations predict a polarity inversion of ζ-potential for several conditions, always associated with charge reversal, whereas none of the other approaches predict such an inversion. We discuss the possible implications of our results in relation to electrophoretic mobility.
